Welcome to the team, Hanna!

Hello! My name is Hanna Ervasti, and I am recent graduate of Grove City College in English and Communications Secondary Education. As my major suggests, I am passionate about English and teaching young people; however, I also enjoy hiking, photography, and reading. I grew up as a military child, so a few of my ‘homes’ have included Okinawa, D.C., Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Alaska. This summer, I will be working with the Alaska Children’s Trust Afterschool Network to implement preventative measures against child abuse through strengthening families and promoting the welfare of children outside of school.

During my experience student teaching, I taught in an 8th grade ELA writing class. Because of the reflective and expressive nature of writing, I worked with many young adults who suffered long-term effects from abuse or neglect that occurred during their early childhood. Helping young adults learn to navigate this damage was a key factor in my desire to intern with the Alaska Children’s Trust and work towards preventing these issues from happening at all. As an emerging educator, I am excited to bring the knowledge, training, and advocacy skills I learn here at the Alaska Children’s Trust to my future school’s climate.
